The Scouts and their mentors met for the council’s third annual Camp CE a leadership development experience that connected 24 corporate executives and entrepreneurs with 24 teen Scouts. The event was northwest of Valparaiso at Camp Butternut Springs which is operated by the council. This year’s camp focused on the economy and job success. Scouts attended a personal-finance workshop to help the girls get a better sense of how career choices affect lifestyles. The workshop included discussions on real-life budgeting for things such as groceries and rent.

will attempt to make his Camping World East Series debut. Ramstrom will attempt to qualify for the 100-lap Camping World East Series event at Thompson in a car owned by Robert Torriere who fields a car full-time in the division for former Sprint Cup Series star Steve Park. Ramstrom competes full-time in the PASS North and also in the Super Late Model division at Thompson. With one victory this season he sits second in the Super Late Model standings at Thompson six points behind division leader Norm Wrenn. He is currently fourth in the PASS North Standings with four top-10’s in six events this season. “I’m pumped” Ramstrom said.

— Thanks to generous donors 76 at-risk kids from the La Crosse area spent the week playing building relationships and learning to make good decisions at Camp Ehawee. The La Crosse Tribune’s seventh annual Camp Send-A-Kid surpassed last year’s record of 63 campers and gave many kids their first camping experience. Samantha Peaslee 13 returned to Camp Send-A-Kid for the third time. She said it’s exciting to be there but also relaxing.
