As of 6 am today the fire has been contained and traffic is now moving intermittently on highway 97A which was previously closed due to the fire. Chelan’s Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mike Speele didn’t seem alarmed. “That was a brush fire that had no affect on any businesses or camping areas to my knowledge. ”Though the fire affected highway 97A the main highway that accesses Lake Chelan it will have no affect on those looking to camp at Lake Chelan this weekend. “We haven’t had a major fire in this area in over a year and a half” Speele stated. “There isn’t much to burn over here anyway but we always request that campers act responsibly to prevent forest fires. ”For more info: Visit.
