Camping World May Be Looking To Leave NASCAR
Insider Racing News
Camping World entered the sport as the sponsor for Richard Childress Racing and Kevin Harvick Inc. on Ron Hornaday’s truck in 2007. Later that season CW expanded to include what was formerly the NASCAR Busch East and North developmental series. Camping World was named title sponsor of the Truck Series last fall following an extensive search after Craftsman Tools bowed out.
The ghost of camping past

So on my 18th birthday I resolved to give up camping. Never again would I find myself in a soaking field back as stiff as a board hunched over a useless stove trying to get a pan of water hot enough to make something vaguely resembling a cup of tea. It was suddenly clear to me that while camping certainly meant getting closer to nature it also involved getting farther away from the nearest cold beer hot shower and flushing lavatory. But I had reckoned without approaching middle age and the desire shared by some old (male) pals to do something more physically challenging than the occasional jog for the bus. Having been banned by wives and children from anything more dangerous or strenuous (”Please don’t go base jumping daddy you’ll DIE”) we hit upon the idea of hiking in Europe always in mountains and usually in late May before the summer crowds arrive.
Tent city? No – just a campsite. Sleep well

tmpl –> Do these things and your outdoor dreams for the coming year have few limits. Camping and low-cost adventure travel can provide the portal to a world where all can feel right no matter what else is fouled up. In a recession year when money is tight tent sales are up 28 percent in the past month at REI. In an economy where the financial scene is grim for many sales of camping gear fishing gear and outdoor clothing are up 13 percent at Cabela’s. People have figured out that camping and backpacking provide low-cost gateways to destinations with world-class beauty. But there are these two issues: sleeping right and finding great spots.

County judge rules against Malibu homeowners and two taxpayer groupsThe plaintiffs had sought to prevent the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy from using studies funded by state bond money to prepare a plan to increase public access to parks. By Martha Groves April 4 2009A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge has ruled against a group of Malibu homeowners and two taxpayer groups that had sought to prevent the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy from using studies funded by state bond money to prepare a plan to increase public access to parks. Citing residents’ concerns about fire the Malibu City Council voted to ban overnight camping on both private and public land. When the conservancy decided to take its plan directly to the California Coastal Commission the residents and taxpayer groups sued. Wolfe said last week that the conservancy properly awarded $585000 in Proposition 50 bond money to the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority to conduct the necessary studies for the access plan.

You can get about 12 or 13 liters of water from one can of their 100g fuel canisters (~$5) enough for several meals. We haven’t tried melting snow with it but tried the PCS out in a few conditions and it performed quite well. It offers a more limited range of options than a normal camp stove of course but heats water (for rehydrating meals or drinks) amazingly well. You can use the companion cup option for when you want to have coffee and a meal and they offer an easy maintenance kit as well. A quick word about an attachment we tried and liked- the coffee press. It wasn’t as nice as some presses (plastic weighs less but feels and looks worse)- but it got the job done and was easy to carry store and use. It also works well for loose leaf tea.

Calgary Canmore and Exshaw kids from ages three to 17 take part in YMCA’s summer camps and since there are a wide variety of activities campgoers will never be bored. Camp Riveredge an outdoor day camp at Sandy Beach focuses on archery tubing and low ropes courses — perfect for kids who love to play outside. There’s an aboriginal camp incorporating traditional cultural activities and there are overnight camps for kids who want the full camping experience. “There are day camps with special focuses on cooking creative arts swimming biking leadership sports and climbing and our newest program is called Golden Eagles” Edwards says. “It’s for 12- and 13-year-olds who want to take part in bike trips and extra swimming in addition to normal day camp activities. But it’s not just the activities that make camps great she says — great facilities approachable counsellors and a safe environment ensure kids and parents are happy with the whole experience. “Kids like feeling safe and having positive role models to look up to and our staff provide excellent leadership in both those areas” Edwards says.
