We closed the campground early and this last fall and winter sent our park managers and tree guys through to inspect the camping area. They looked closely at nearly a hundred trees and found half of them were dead dying or diseased and could also collapse without warning.

IVESStaff WriterLEESBURG — A Cub Scout pack’s dream of camping this summer is back on its feet after community organizations and individuals helped to replace its stolen gear. The Leesburg Sunrise Kiwanis presented Pack 299 with $2400 last week to help pay for tents stoves a propane oven grills water coolers cookers roasting stick holders and other camping equipment that thieves trekked off with. The gear had been stationed in the scouts’ trailer housed in the parking lot at Lake Square Presbyterian Church in Leesburg a church the pack operates out of. Thieves also made off with the trailer. "It’s good that the scouts will know that despite the theft there are a lot of good people in the world" said Kiwanis president Daniel Wertz.
