At least though gas prices aren’t keeping many campers home they said. “The state parks in this area are full for the weekend but when you go further north you might see a difference” said Jim Case manager of Seven Lakes State Park in Holly. All 71 of Seven Lakes’ camp sites were booked for the weekend and Case said he hasn’t noticed any difference in the demographics of the clientele. “It’s going to affect state parks overall but I think gas prices might actually improve this park this year” Case said. “This park is just a hop skip and a jump from all the areas around here and for (many campers) it takes a couple of gallons of gas to get here. We’re in a good location. Wolverine Campground in Richfield Township is nearly sold out for this weekend… “(Camping) is not something you do every day” he said. “You’re not driving your RV back and forth to work or to the grocery store. You drive to the campground enjoy yourself and camp. Michigan campers will fill thousands of campsites across Michigan — including 73 state locations — despite the increase in fuel prices over the past few years but they will pick their spots.
